Farmer for the Day Tour – Spring Edition

Monday – Friday, by appointment

The Farmer For The Day Tour gives children the experience of a day in the life of a farmer. The purpose of this tour is to enhance a child’s understanding of the hard work and dedication it takes to be a farmer. Participants will “work” around the farm experiencing various interactive learning stations. From each station, participants will gather products and eventually “sell” them at our farmer market where they will earn a Patterson Farm Buck that is redeemable for ice cream or water from our market. This tour follows the Core Curriculum and will last approximately one hour.

Tour Includes:

• Barn Theater featuring “The Dirt on Dirt DVD”
• Interactive Learning Stations
  • The Barnyard: Animal Life
  • Insect Garden (Friend or Foe)
  • The Bee Barn: Pollination
  • The Vegetable Garden
  • The Apple Orchard
  • The Dairy Barn/The Chicken Coop
  • The Planting Shed: Parts of a Plant
  • The Farmers Market: Participants “sell” the products they gathered while “working” on the farm, and will earn a Patterson Farm Buck that is redeemable for ice cream or water from our market.

All tours include access to Pawpaw Carl’s Playground and Picnic Area. Participants are welcome prior to or after their tour.
